Scott's Flowers

Hi everyone, I hope that you're all looking forward to a visit from the Easter bunny ;-)  Something a little different today, as in something Scott (my son) has made rather than me.  With no help from mum either!! As it was a surprise.

Well here it is
Here's a closer look

Isn't it just lovely?  He used melon mambo, real red, elegant eggplant and pool party card.  He's made the flower by punching out different sized circles using the 1 3/4, 1 1/4, 1 3/8,  and 3/8 circle punches.  He's then scrunched them up and stuck them all together using a stampin Dimension on each layer.  I helped him fix a safety pin to the back so that it could be made into a broach.

I'm very proud of him and I think it goes lovely with my pool party top!

See you soon

Notes

As some of you will know I have a second job as a learning support assistant, I asked for a new note book yesterday and this is what they gave me:
So all I had to do was write my name on it right?  So I did, Stampin Up style.

So yes I should have stamped the card BEFORE I put it on the book to get a clearer image.  Otherwise I'm quite happy with it.  I used wisteria wonder card and ink, elegant eggplant card, the broadsheet alphabet, very vanilla card, and the 1 3/8 circle punch, 1 3/4 Scallop punch and some paper roses of various sizes.  Oh I nearly forgot I also added a bit of bling to the letters.

Off to make some notes then ;-)

Challenges

Yes there are many in the Keating household let me tell you.  I'm sure all mums will feel the same, we're not just mums, we are caterers, waitresses, laundry service, ironing service, taxi drivers, butlers, entertainers, diplomats, spin doctors, teachers, nurses, carers, bank of England and the list goes on. How on earth do we mange to fit our normal jobs in there never mind hobbies!

Speaking of which down to today's card.  I got the idea from a fellow demonstrator who made a similar design as a swap.

Yes sorry about the clip of my iron in the background lol,  I've used the Paisley Petals stamp and papers to make this card, I've stamped in Elegant Eggplant onto Elegant eggplant card, I then added that lovely scalloped dotted ribbon and made a flower using the Fancy Flower punch, I know I've been using this punch a lot but I just love the flowers you can make with it.  I've inked the edges of the flower in Elegant Eggplant and added a rhinestone as a bit of bling in the middle.

I'll be entering this into the Simply Stampin Challenge Sketch challenge.  And now it's time to go back to being a mum, helping Scotty Too Hotty complete his homework on how teeth work, it involves the eating of a toffee and an apple so I have courageously volunteered in the name of education.;-)

Prefect Pennants

As some of you will know, not only am I a Stampin Up demonstrator but I'm also a learning support assistant (LSA) at the local comprehensive school.  Now the room where all the LSA's gather is a small square room with no windows, it's very dull and boring and small, I'm sure the purpose of having no windows is so none of us will harbour ideas of escape ;-).  The good thing about this room is it seems to have more than it's fair share of pin boards so with that in mind and wanting to brighten the room up a little I made a banner from the perfect pennants die.
Ta Da!!!! I used Calypso Coral and Pool Party card and ink, I made the flowers using the Fancy Flower punch.  I punched these out of Very Vanilla and inked the edges with Calypso Coral and added a pearl or gem to the middle of it.  I used the Broadsheet Alphabet Stamp to stamp out the letters.

Take a closer look.
As you can see I've also used the Everyday Enchantment papers from the Sale-a-bration range, these are FREE yes FREE when you spend £45 in the main or spring mini catalogues.

I hope this will be a nice surprise for the other LSA's when they come into work on Monday.

Bye for now

Phone Sock and Flowers

Yup you read that right a phone sock lol.  It seems I have some sewing talents that I was never aware of.  This of course has been driving everyone else in the Keating household mad as they can't move for cloth, needles and pins.  Ray Ray bless him has been giving me a look of 'oh God not another messy hobby' whilst trying at the same time to be supportive of my efforts.  Scotty Too Hotty of course just wants to join in, he is currently picking pictures for a scrap book.  I've made this phone sock for my HTC Sensation

I used the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric for this, for the flower in the middle I used the Blossom Party Die from the spring mini catalogue and an antique brad in the middle.
While we're on the subject of flowers I've made some very pretty ones using the Fancy Flower Punch, I got this idea from Monica who made the same flower from coloured card at one of our trainings.
As you can see instead of using coloured card I've used Very vanilla then inked the edges with, Regal Rose, Marina Mist and Real Red.  They are very easy to make, just punch out your flower 3 times, then scrunch them up, this will loosen up the fibres in the card allowing you to pull the flower apart, this then gives you two flowers with a nice textured finish.  I topped them off with a pearl brad.  I think they are lovely.

See you soon
